Collective Action

The Branch Nashville has two collective action initiatives: The Coalition for Better Futures and Goal Collective. Each has unique ways to build a vibrant community through meaningful partnership.

Making Lasting Change Together

Collective action drives much of our impact. Here’s a glimpse of what The Branch, our partners, our volunteers, and our neighbors accomplish through the power of relationships.

The Coalition for Better Futures

The Coalition for Better Futures in Southeast Nashville is an informal association of caring citizens motivated to collaborate on strategies and programs to help our neighbors thrive.

Coalition membership is open to anyone, and all skill sets are valuable to our efforts. You do not have to attend every meeting to serve as a Coalition Member.

Coalition meetings are held at noon on the last Tuesday of each month. Visit The Events Page for information about the next meeting.

Our Approach to Collective Action

Southeast Nashville is a unique community rich in ethnic and cultural diversity. Many of its residents face disproportionately high rates of poverty and unemployment, and encounter more barriers to having a high quality of life than their neighbors in other parts of our city.

The Coalition for Better Futures includes the efforts of government agencies, non-profits, public and private education institutions, churches, employers, and Southeast Nashville residents. We form working groups to explore these multifaceted issues and coordinate effective solutions for the neighbors we serve.

The Coalition Action Areas

Since 2022, The Coalition for Better Futures has focused its collective action on the areas of greatest need for southeast Nashville families, including:

  • Basic Needs
  • Transportation
  • Education & Economic Mobility
  • Health and Wellness
  • Children/Youth
  • Older Adults
  • Housing

Our Process

Combating poverty and food insecurity at their roots requires continual collaboration. Together, our Coalition members:

1.

Identify Needs

  • What are the most pressing needs people in Southeast Nashville face?
  • Who’s helping to meet those needs?
  • Where are there still gaps in services and support?

2

Make Connections

  • How can we boost existing services and connect more people to our neighbors?
  • How can Coalition members use our partnerships to better support our neighbors?

3.

Find Solutions

  • What action steps can we take?
  • What new partnerships can we create?
  • What resources/funding can we secure to provide higher-quality support?
