Volunteering in (Y)our Community
From a foundation of Christian values, The Branch helps those in our community who struggle to have enough food for their families and those who desire to learn English to get better jobs. Won’t you join us in helping our neighbors? Here are some ways in which you can volunteer.
Pantry. Tuesday Pantry is open from 4-6. New volunteers should plan to arrive at 3:30 to be assigned to a position and become familiar with the system. Returning volunteers should come at 3:45. All volunteers should check in in the hallway close to the office and should report either to Liz or Pam. If you are brand new, please text 615-709-2025 with your name and reason why you are coming.
Hospitality. If you enjoy serving refreshments and being hospitable, this is a great service opportunity! Volunteers are needed Monday thru Thursday during the day or in the evening. Hospitality involves bringing food, setting up for students to self- serve, and cleaning up afterward.
Daytime hospitality starts at 9:00 am and ends around 10:00 or 10:30 am. We like to have light snacks available for our adult English students during the day.
Nighttime hospitality starts at 5:45 pm and ends around 7:15 to 7:30 pm. These times are somewhat flexible. In the evening, our students are very hungry as they come straight from work to class. We like to provide a heavier snack or lighter dinner item (sandwiches, spaghetti, pizza) for them. We recommend that you partner with family, friends, small groups, or others to provide hospitality for the nighttime students.
Facility Care. We rely on volunteers to help us take care of our facility. Many needs arise such as:
- Minor Repairs (bathroom leak, toilet repair, etc.)
- Maintenance (light construction and revisions)
- Changing out light bulbs
If you love to take care of a building, give us a shout! We need people who are interested in doing the actual tasks and someone to manage others who want to volunteer for the tasks.
